The “in between” is ugly. The middle is messy. Transition takes time and work. As I’m pulling out our Christmas decorations, I’m reminded of the literal messiness from one season to the next. But, without the transition there wouldn’t be a transformation. It requires hard work of putting the old away, so the new can come. It takes going through old dusty boxes to transform a home into one that reflects a scene out of Elf!

🎄
Isn’t that the truth about life’s changing seasons as well? It’s sometimes ugly, messy, confusing, takes time, work and patience. Some seasons are expected and embraced, while others not so much. Whether it’s in literal terms of decorating for Christmas, or on a personal level, the overwhelming feeling remains the same. .
.
Just as the transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas is temporary, this life and it’s circumstances are temporary. Just as we anticipate the beauty of glittering lights, Jesus sees beauty that we can’t see. The beauty of an eternity spent with Him. .
.
The truth is that we will always be living our lives in the middle until the moment we take our last breath. Don’t get stuck in the discouragement of the in between, there’s an eternal beauty waiting ahead.
